The Coast
Casa Buena Vista is located within
35 minutes easy drive of the
delightful Costa Tropical coast. This part of the Spanish Mediterranean
coastline is quieter and much less developed than the Costa Del Sol,
although it is slightly warmer and much more scenic.
The coastline in this area consists mostly of secluded sandy coves with
rocky backdrops, and occasional broader bays housing the main resort
areas. There are a vast array of beaches, from popular large resort
beaches to almost deserted coves. Some of the larger coves, whilst offering quieter more
scenic bathing, also have bars, restaurants and other facilities. You
really are spoilt for choice.
The nearest resort towns to Casa Buena Vista are Salobrena, Almunecar and
Calahonda. These have all the facilities you would expect, and are lively
in peak season.
Salobrena is spectacularly perched on a cliff top, and the ancient
Moorish castle is well worth a visit, especially for the beach and
coastline views.
Almunecar is a larger resort, popular with the Spanish
themselves. There is a bird zoo, various museums, a castle and of course
the beach.
Going the other way towards Almeria on the coast road is Calahonda.
Another attractive resort town where there is a large expanse of sandy beach and a
leaning tower! Away from the resorts, there are numerous coves and beaches
off the main coast road just waiting to be explored - you may well be able
to have your own bit of paradise all to yourself for the day.
Our favourite of those discovered so far is Playa de Cabria, between
Salobrena and Almunecar. This is a lovely rocky cove which traps the sun,
and has clear blue water and a sandy beach. There is a choice of bars and
restaurants behind the beach when the need strikes. The perfect
ingredients for a lazy day on the beach!
